2-Day Extreme Trekking Tour: The Armenian Machu Picchu

Two days of adrenaline and discovery in the south of Armenia. This route is for those who want to feel the scale of nature, touch ancient history and push their limits. The Vorotan Gorge is a treasure of secrets, stunning landscapes and extraordinary scenery. On day two you will trek to the legendary Old Khot, known as the Armenian Machu Picchu, and continue to Old Shinuair and Old Khalidzor, ancient settlements perched on canyon slopes where stone houses, narrow paths and sheer drops create the feeling of stepping back in time. Total trekking distance is around 8 km with an elevation gain of around 500 m. Medium difficulty level, suitable for physically active participants. Trekking shoes and comfortable sportswear are required. The tour itinerary may be modified and adapted to meet the specific request of the tourist.

1. Wings of Tatev, Tatev Monastery, Devil's Bridge, Khalidzor
Departure from Yerevan at 06:00. Wings of Tatev cable car, the longest reversible cable car in the world. Lunch at Tatevatun complex. Tatev Monastery, a jewel of medieval Armenia. Trekking to Devil's Bridge and toward the great Tatev desert. Khalidzor viewpoint with panoramic views over Vorotan Gorge. Hotel check-in and rest in Khalidzor.

Breakfast at hotel. Trekking route: Old Khot, Old Shinuair, Old Khalidzor. Ancient abandoned settlements on canyon slopes with breathtaking views. Around 8 km, elevation gain around 500 m, medium difficulty level. Food stop. Return to Yerevan.
